Cirque de Vogue by David Paulus

On the 29th of June, David Paulus presented his newest collection 'Cirque de Vogue'. With his S/S 15 collection, he celebrates his 5 years of being a designer. I'm  excited to see his shows, because they're always a surprise!

This collection contains two themes: the 'Ready to wear' collection and the 'Art Couture'. I really liked all the fun colors and that the the title came back in all the pieces, even in the Ready to wear collection. The combination of the crazy, arty pieces and the totally wearable pieces, had me interested.

It wouldn't be David Paulus without some kind of dance during the show. After a silent movie was shown( see the movie here) 3 very fashionable clowns showed their moves on the beats of Madonna's Vogue.

Truly a fun show, in which David Paulus has shown us that he is a designer that likes to have fun designing his collections!

Shades and Shapes Specsavers

I was invited to the Shapes and Shades workshop by Specsavers. I was really excited for this day, because it was also the launch of a new and exclusive line of glasses, designed by a famous designer! I was intrigued…

I arrived at Studio 13 with my dear friend Çetin form I AM Mode. The space was divided in different section, every section containing a different theme and color for glasses. It looked gorgeous! We also got some vitamin shots, with just the right vitamins for your eyes. After trying on the different frames and styles, we went upstairs for the workshop.

Workshop Shades and Shapes

Designer Jorgen Simonsen told us about the Osiris collection, which he designed exclusively for Specsavers. Simonsen is a well-known designers who has designed for Jennifer Lopez and Sarah Jessica Parker!
‘Dare to be different’ is the motto of this collection. It’s a commercial line for a broad audience. Goal of Simonsen was to make Osiris a desirable brand again. We think he succeeded just perfectly! He thought it was challenging to design an entire collection of glasses, because this was his first time. But this is exactly why Specsavers wanted him to design this collection: they wanted his view on fashion transferred on to the glasses. Not only did he want to make the look of the glasses unique, but also the texture. Folkloric Fetish is the theme he used as inspiration. In this fetish means ‘an extreme amount of attention to details’.
Osiris is an in-house brand of Specsavers, exclusively sold at Specsavers. Simonsen designed 60 pieces for Specsavers, and 12 of those are the Fresh pieces. His favorite? The ‘glasses in glasses’ specs. Next year he will design another line for Osiris. Simonson is a busy man. He’s currently busy with his new clothing line, luxury handbags with an atelier in Italy and fur coats in Istanbul. And next year he has another first: he will launch a new fragrance for men!

After this, make-up artist Saray Verlinden continued the workshop with make overs and useful make up tips for ladies wearing glasses. My favorite tip: Eyebrows are a must when you wear glasses, so when you’re choosing a frame, make sure your brows are visible!

I really enjoyed this day, and I’m ready to choose a new set of glasses, designed for Osiris!

Confessions of a Pregnant Fashionista

As you all know, I recently got engaged, and was very busy with figuring out when how and what dress I was gonna wear.  And very busy with my carreer, as I'm looking for a challenging job in the PR, fashion, communications or all of the above.

At MBFWA, wearing Sister Jane
Well... On the 5th of January I was truly surprised with a positive pregnancy test. I was in uther shock: I wasn't planning on having babies for at least two years! But after the shock came happiness and then a huge freak out if everything was ok with the little one...

So I've decided to include you in this crazy journey, telling you some of the things I go through, but still I will be blogging about fashion! Every now and then I will post a 'confessions of a pregnant fashionista' post, starting today!

At MBFWA Vest: Sister Jane, Top and leather pants: H&M, Shoes: River Island, clutch: Mart Visser
Preggo at Fashion Week
Fashion week. Normally one of the hectic weeks in my life, especially because I'm reporting the shows for I AM Mode. And this time I found it so different. First of, I was scared that I would throw up on someone and second of all: what to wear?! I was sporting a tiny baby bump(in my opinion) and normally fashion week is the time to look skinny. Talking about skinny, Why the f*ck don't they serve food?! Before this wasn't a problem at all, because cigarettes and alcohol where doing it for me. Sigh. Well next year I can stick to my usual Fashion Week diet...;) Minus the cigarettes.

But one thing never changes at Fashion Week: as soon as the first model hits the runway, I forget that I'm tired and feeling sick, and I can simply enjoy fashion, as it should be. So baby's first fashion Week went well!

With my Fashion partner in crime, Çetin at MBFWA.

Shoot Be First

A while ago, I did a shoot for Be First A store located near Amsterdam. They sell beautiful gowns and dresses, and a wide variety of them. Every shoot is a challenge, but I've never done a shoot in these kind of fabrics and dresses; and it was fun! I'm not a princess dresses kind of girl( well, except for my wedding), but it was nice to play dress up and feel like a princess for a day...

What do you think of the results?
